On the website,fibromyalgiavoice.com, there is an interesting article about the history of fibromyalgia. Although it was not recognized as an actual illness, some think that it existed in Biblical times when Job had it. It is also believed that Florence Nightingale also suffered with it. A very painful condition that can’t easily be diagnosed, people who complained of constant pain were probably dubbed as being mentally ill. Several doctors worked to find a cause through the years and it was finally recognized as a viable illness by the American Medical Association in 1987. Medicines are now being developed to relieve the symptoms.
